For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

Not so Routine…

What a good night last night.

We went out with the same plan as always: share the Gospel and see what God does. Weather was not too bad. A little wind, but the sun was out. We walked our normal route. People were out, and honestly, it just felt like a routine night at first.

When It Started To Open Up

Once we got to the square, that is when it really started. People were not just grabbing tracts and walking away. They were taking tracts and actually stopping to talk.

We ran into “Jim,” who is struggling while being on the streets. We talked with him for a bit and were able to get a Bible into his hands. Pray that he reads it and that God uses it to pull him closer to Jesus.

Talking With A Couple Who Left The Church

We moved down a little further. Part of the team stopped to talk with one gentleman. At the same time, a couple walked by and I ended up in a conversation with them.

They grew up in the church but have since stepped away. We had a real conversation about faith in Jesus, what it means to trust Him, and I shared my testimony. The guy, “Eric,” was honest and open. He said he has an agnostic worldview, but he cannot really explain why. He is open to ideas and actually enjoyed the conversation. So did I.

Before they left, I gave “Eric” a Bible as well. Pray that he and his partner read it, think about it, and that God starts to break through all the confusion and bring them back to Himself.

From Downtown To City Hall

We stayed out later than usual because there was a school board forum at city hall. When it wrapped up, we walked over to hand out tracts as people came out.

We met some of the candidates and some of the people who attended. A few took tracts. A few were very clear they wanted nothing to do with Jesus. That is part of it. Not everyone is interested, but they still heard His name and still got an invite to think about Him.

After the crowd cleared, we stood up on the hill at city hall, looking down at the parking lot.

Down there were community leaders. People running for positions. People who help shape what happens in our schools and our city. A lot of them do not hold biblical values publicly. But standing there watching them walk to their cars, it really hit me: they are just people.

Same as me. Same as our team. Same need for forgiveness. Same need for grace. Same need for Jesus.

So we prayed for them. For their lives. For their families. For their decisions. For God to save them.

Why Nights Like This Matter

On the surface, it might look like a pretty normal night. Same route. Handed out tracts. A few conversations. Stopped by city hall after a meeting.

But this is exactly why we go out. God is holy. Our sin separates us from Him. Jesus died on the cross and rose again so that anyone who repents and believes can be forgiven and made new. That is true for “Jim” on the streets, for “Eric” who walked away from church, and for school board candidates walking out of city hall.

They all need Jesus. I need Jesus. You need Jesus.

So we keep going. We keep sharing. We keep praying.

Please pray for:

  • “Jim,” living on the streets with a Bible in his hands
  • “Eric” and his partner, that they come back to Jesus, not just to church culture
  • Everyone who took a tract, that they would actually read it
  • The leaders and candidates at city hall, that God saves them and shapes their hearts
