The other day, while getting my oil changed, I spotted something unexpected yet incredibly encouraging. Sitting in the front office window was a giant $100 bill. Well, not a real one, it was one of the gospel tracts I had left behind last Time I got my oil changed.
The tract was clearly visible, with both sides displayed for anyone passing by to see. That simple sight brought a flood of encouragement. It reminded me of Jesus’ parable of the sower in Matthew 13, where seeds are scattered in different types of soil. Some fall by the wayside, others on rocky or thorny ground, but some land in fertile soil and bear fruit.
This moment made me wonder:
Did this seed fall on fertile ground?
Has someone been thinking about the message? Has God been using this small creative tract to stir a heart?
Whether or not I ever find out, the fact that it’s still there speaks volumes. It hasn’t been tossed or forgotten. It’s been displayed, maybe even treasured.
I plan to follow up and check in with the folks there soon. But for now, I’m simply thankful to see that a seed planted months ago is still visible, still sowing, and still holding the potential to bear fruit.
Let this be a reminder: keep planting. You never know where a simple act of obedience will take root.
