For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

Downtown Fargo – Halloween Outreach 2025

Going out to downtown Fargo on Halloween was honestly a little nerve-racking. All week, I had been praying that if God wanted us to go, He would make it happen. Today, everything lined up, and after taking some time to pray, a couple of us decided to head out around 7:30 PM. We met on the corner, bundled up in the cold, and prayed together, asking God for divine appointments and for His work to be done that night.

Once we finished praying, we hit the streets. We walked up and down Broadway, passing out tracts to everyone we could. At one point, we passed a familiar shop window. My partner thought he recognized the man behind the counter, someone he hadn’t seen in years. We kept walking, but on our way back, the Holy Spirit prompted us to stop and go inside. It turned out to be the same man. They reconnected, shared the Gospel through a tract, and prayed together. We will call him Steve.

As we continued, we handed out “Good Person Comics” tracts until we ran out. Then we switched to the Halloween optical illusion tracts, which surprisingly drew a lot of interest. People loved the trick and were open to hearing what it meant. It sparked a lot of great conversations.

One of those conversations was with a man we will call John. He was honest and told us right away that he did not believe Jesus was the only way and that our beliefs were false. We asked him about his worldview, but he would not share and kept challenging ours instead. His wife eventually came over, trying to pull him away. The conversation was intense but never hostile. I shared my testimony with him, and even though we did not agree, we told him we loved him and would pray for him. Before leaving, his friend called to tell him it was time to go, and we ended the talk on peaceful terms.

Throughout the night, we also met several Christians, people who believed in Jesus but were still trying to earn their way to heaven. One woman, Mary, carried a Bible but seemed lost and struggling, possibly under the influence. We prayed for her. Another man, Juan, wore a Christian sweatshirt. He liked the optical illusion tract, and when we told him it was about the Gospel, he admitted he had not been following the Lord lately. You could see conviction on his face. We shared the Gospel again and prayed for him, encouraging him to return to Christ. It was no accident that our paths crossed. God was calling him back.

Later, we met Patrick, a man who was clearly going through something heavy. We saw him a few times throughout the night, and we prayed that if God wanted us to talk to him, He would bring him across our path again. And He did. We talked, shared the Gospel, and prayed together.

Finally, as we wrapped up the night, our very last tract went to a man named Marvin. He asked for prayer for his mom, Susie. We shared the Gospel with him and prayed for her healing and for peace in their family.

By the end of the night, in just about two hours, we had passed out roughly 175 tracts. What started with fear and hesitation ended in peace and gratitude. There were moments that could have been concerning, such as a woman shouting into the air or a man looking for a fight, but God protected us through it all.

As I sit here reflecting, I can say this with confidence: fear and worry could have kept us from going, but prayer, faith, and obedience brought us peace. God truly guided and protected us, and He opened doors we could never have planned ourselves.

“For if I preach the gospel, I have no reason to boast, because I am compelled to preach, and woe to me if I do not preach the gospel.”
1 Corinthians 9:16

Prayer List from Halloween Outreach – Downtown Fargo 2025

Please join us in praying for the people we met during our time downtown.

  • Steve – Pray for continued connection and that the seeds planted through the Gospel tract and prayer would grow into faith and a deeper walk with Jesus.
  • John – Pray that God would soften his heart, open his eyes to the truth of who Jesus is, and draw him into a personal relationship with Christ.
  • Mary – Pray for clarity of mind and freedom from any substances or struggles she is facing. Ask that God would guide her as she reads her Bible and lead her into true understanding of salvation through grace.
  • Juan – Pray that he would return to the Lord with a renewed heart and boldness to follow Christ again. Ask that conviction would turn into repentance and restoration.
  • Patrick – Pray for peace in whatever situation he is facing. Ask that God would reveal His love to Patrick and give him strength and hope through the Gospel message.
  • Marvin – Pray for his mother, Susie, for healing and comfort. Also pray for Marvin’s faith to grow as he experiences God’s care and answers to prayer.

Overall Prayer:
Pray that every tract handed out would reach the right person, that hearts would be changed, and that the Gospel shared on Halloween night would continue to bear fruit long after the event.
